denis sorokin is a musician, improviser and painter from saint-petersburg, russia. he was educated as a classical and jazz guitarist and studied modern painting with eugene orlov.
as a guitarist he performs the music of michael pisaro and other composers from wandelweiser, as well as his own transcriptions of john cage’s and other’s compositions for prepared guitar. as his primary means of expression in improvisation situations he uses household appliances such as spotlights, flashlights, video equipment controllers, telephones, etc. as a visual artist he works in abstract painting, drawing, installation and performance, and makes artwork for album covers.
