luong hue trinh is a musician and composer of experimental and electroacoustic music. she graduated with honors in jazz keyboard at the vietnam national academy of music. although she began her studies in jazz, trinh began to work in electroacoustic music in 2010 and it became her main focus. since then she has been guided and inspired by the vietnamese percussionist and composer SonX. she participates in domdom – the experimental music hub in hanoi. since 2015 she has been studying with prof. dr. georg hajdu at the hamburg university of music and theater where her efforts are funded by the daad scholarship for multimedia composition studies.
she has: composed soundtracks for experimental films/videos; performed live in festivals; created sound installations and multimedia compositions; worked as a creator in echoes – a geolocative audio project; participated in a workshop with students at roskilde university in denmark. her works have been exhibited in art spaces and museums; broadcast on radio; performed live in vietnam, thailand, malaysia, cambodia, phillipines, indonesia, us, czech republic, germany, norway, australia, and the uk.
her sound installation in the riverscape in flux exhibition (2011-13) by goethe institut toured in five south east asian countries. trinh has been invited by shanghai rockbund art museum and banye art hotel in hangzhou, china to perform and talk in the asia experimental music current project – artist of the month-july, 2014. her sound installation porous borders, a collaboration with SonX was exhibited in “the roving eye” exhibition – contemporary art from southeast asia by the arter/space for art in istanbul, turkey in 2014. live performances in the asian meeting festival 2015 at the asahi art square, tokyo and goethe institut, kyoto, japan; punkt festival 2015 in kristiansand, norway; blurred edges festival 2016 in hamburg, germany; copenhagen jazz festival 2015, denmark; in the opera dido & aeneas by henry purcell – a co-production of theaterakademie hamburg & hamburgischen staatsoper at the opera stabile, staatsoper hamburg, germany.
her work was also published by urban arts berlin in the album synthesis vol. 1 – a compilation of soundworks by female composers from various countries.
